"Serendipity is how we met. Community involvement, love of design and attention to quality and detail is what keeps us working together."
– Urban Mews
A decade ago, two Canadians, George Ilagan and Paul Hastings, designed, funded with friends and built 42 homes for destitute families in the Philippines. At the same time, Thomas Lukaszuk led a group of Canadian volunteers to the Philippines to build a playground for underprivileged children. Upon meeting each other, they decided to merge the two projects and build "Edmonton Village". A partnership between these like-minded individuals quickly developed.
Today, George, Thomas and Paul specialize in sourcing and importing high quality, innovative and ecologically-friendly building materials from Europe. Combining their experience in architecture, design, construction and community development with their access to superb building materials, they formed Urban Mews – a leading edge garage home and garden home design and development company.
Bringing Paul and George’s 35 years’ experience creating custom, high-end homes together with Thomas’ extensive public service background creates a different kind of company, one based on respect and integrity, always putting the customer first. As professionals, they feel the design and construction process should be efficient and hassle-free, with no surprises. At Urban Mews, designs are created with an eye to protecting existing trees and green space while working with the character of existing neighbourhoods. They don't buy into fads, choosing instead to build homes that stand the test of time.
Both personally and professionally, family values are at the forefront of Urban Mews. They understand that as you move through life’s stages, your needs change too. Whether your teenager is looking for more independence, your parents need a bit more support, you want to downsize or you’re looking for an additional income opportunity, an Urban Mews garage home or garden suite is an affordable, flexible option for your family.
George, Paul and Thomas continue their tradition of community support, donating a share of Urban Mews profits to local community leagues and associations.
